The story of Rocco also called Rocky started in Sicily on a mountain in Cefalu. He was found exhausted after tramping the valleys and mountains having been abandoned/rejected by his former owners. He was happily welcomed in by an English lady, where he remained as her fierce, protective guard dog. Those days he seemed like a psycho dog who feared for his life. He would encircle her feet, snake-like, in a position of total submission, an expression of pleading on his concerned face. It soon became apparent that he had been quite badly beaten, as he would run at the sight of a broom, and even the stern tone of a voice.
Eventually they came back to live in Richmond. However Rocco never forgot his fierce need for defence attack. So it was his good fortune when he met his future trainer Renato Benassai, and together they worked a popular strategy. They walked and worked together by the River Thames and in the Park; Rocco was taught obedience, and all behavioural problems lovingly sorted.
Sadly Rocco is no longer with us. So Renato has acknowledged his memory in naming his dog training expertise as rockysdogtrainer.com He will never walk alone!
