The story of Rocco also called Rocky started in Sicily on a mountain in Cefalu. He was found exhausted after tramping the valleys and mountains having been abandoned/rejected by his former owners. He was happily welcomed in by an English lady, where he remained as her fierce, protective guard dog. Those days he seemed like a psycho dog who feared for his life. He would encircle her feet, snake-like, in a position of total submission, an expression of pleading on his concerned face. It soon became apparent that he had been quite badly beaten, as he would run at the sight of a broom, and even the stern tone of a voice.
Eventually they came back to live in Richmond. However Rocco never forgot his fierce need for defence attack. So it was his good fortune when he met his future trainer Renato Benassai, and together they worked a popular strategy. They walked and worked together by the River Thames and in the Park; Rocco was taught obedience, and all behavioural problems lovingly sorted.
Sadly Rocco is no longer with us. So Renato has acknowledged his memory in naming his dog training expertise as rockysdogtrainer.com He will never walk alone!

I am an experienced dog trainer who has a solid understanding of how to use positive reinforcement and behaviour modification techniques to improve behavioural issues in dogs. I am highly knowledgeable about toilet training dogs, especially puppies, supporting with separation anxiety, training for off-leash walking with the recall command and also provide dog walking and dog sitting services. I have gained a level 3 dog trainer diploma.

My initial drive to work with dogs and support with their training came while walking a local dog and realising how rewarding it felt to watch him grow in confidence and skill because of my handling of him. I soon started training this older dog and saw that he really flourished with my patience and encouragement, which triggered my interest in wanting to learn about canine psychology which is now my passion. I realised that as I worked with, and taught this old dog new tricks, he too was teaching me a lot about working with dogs and it was this realisation that led to me quit my job and re-qualify as a dog trainer, bringing my memory to my young age when I use to bring meat scraps from the butcher to the street dogs in my village that me and my mates use to look after them.

As a result my puppy is always excited when Renato is at the door and has lots of fun during the training sessions. We have found Renato's training to be incredibly beneficial for our 18 month year old Shiba Inu Nala.
Given the breed which who notoriously are stubborn and have an incredibly high prey drive and and before meeting Renato, we were very anxious about letting her play freely off lead in the park with other dogs. With Renato's help, he has enabled Nala to become more independent and run more freely whilst remaining very loyal and obedient.
Nala is now well trained with respect to recall and commands such as sitting and waiting even from a distance. She now consistently responds to her name and has a sense of belonging to us as her owners when walking off lead in parks.
In addition, we have thoroughly enjoyed working with Renato. He is a reliable, diligent individual who we have also trusted to stay in our home when away.
